Preschool

Hey all you Albuquerquians (and those who wouldn't mind the commute :) )

I'm going to be teaching preschool this coming year and have a few openings left. We will start August 18 and go three days a week - Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We will be learning letters, colors, shapes, numbers and having a great time playing! And it all costs only $45 a month!

So if you are interested, let me know! I would love to have your child join us!

Octo-dogs and shells

In an attempt to do something different, this is what we had for lunch today:

Click here for the recipe. It's one to feel good about; It has vegetables in it, and I made it with turkey dogs (which have 40% less fat than regular dogs). And you want to know the best part??

The boys ate it up!! Well, let me rephrase that. Porter ate it up. All he talked about the whole time was how cool it was to have an "Octopus" for lunch and how good it was. Zach ate some of the shells and the hotdog, Andrew asked me to cut his hotdog but then freaked out when it wasn't what he expected. But then again, it was naptime, so he's excused. I ate some and it was really good.

Anyways, It's one I will definitely make again.

New Cast

We visited the Orthopedic doctor Wednesday and after a couple more x-rays, they confirmed where the break in Andrew's leg is and put him in a nice green cast for the next three weeks. Andrew's has relearned how to crawl and actually gets around pretty well. He stands up to get himself up onto the couch and futon and doesn't seemed bothered by the cast at all.

What do you remember?

A few of my friends have this on their blog- and I thought it was a really cute idea!

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember as long as it's nice;)!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. Come and play!

Three's a Charm...

Well, Andrew has finally joined the broken leg club. Yes, you heard me right, he broke his leg. He was jumping on the tramp with all the Hunt cousins last night when he was brought in crying. The word was that Andrew fell down on the tramp and he was pretty distraught. We tried to calm his down the best we could; but when he was still upset after getting his blanket and binkie, we knew something was really wrong. Having experienced this before (twice), I knew when he wouldn't stand up on his own that there really was a problem. We took him into the ER and after x-rays discovered that he broke his tibia in his left leg just below the knee. We contacted the Orthopedic doctor today and they suggested that we wait a week or so to put it in a cast because of the swelling. Andrew's in a splint right now and as long as you're not changing his bum he's pretty comfortable. He doesn't quite understand that he can't walk on it and has tried to get down and walk a couple of times. It's going to be a great time at Gorge - luckily he's not as heavy as Zach and we're used to carrying him around. But it has greatly limited his activity and I'm anxious to see for how long he's content to just sit around. We may be taking lots of walks in the wagon to get him outside once in a while.

BTW - This is our third broken leg in a year!

My New Toy

I got a new camera! I ordered a Canon Digital Rebel XT before we left and wanted it for our trip, so had it shipped to Salt Lake. I love taking pictures with it! I haven't ever taken so many pictures - I'm suprised my boys aren't sick of it already. Andrew did tell me "away" the other day when I had the camera out. I have very little experience with taking pictures other than pointing and shooting, so I'm hoping to take a photography class to understand all the features and settings and to learn how to take a good picture!

Vacation week #1

We are halfway through our trip and having a great time. We started in Phoenix for my niece's baby blessing and had a great time (even though it was over 100 degrees while we were there). On Friday, we saw Wall-E, played in the water fountains, and went to see the Arizona D-Backs play the Padres. The heat wasn't bad as long as we were wet or inside somewhere. I even took a run through the fountains. (I was pretty wet after that.)

Sunday was the blessing for baby Vanessa, with a yummy waffle bar afterwards. We also went to a kiddie amusement park where the boys rode all the rides they could handle. Zach's favorite was the Carousel, Porter's favorite was the spinning cups (similar to the teacups at Disneyland) and Andrew loved the helicopters.

Monday, we took the kids to the splash pad to wear them out before Mom, Jenny, and I went shopping at the mall. It took the kids a while to get out in the water, but after they ate most of Savannah's snacks, they were ready for fun. The best was watching the buckets of water drop down on Porter's head. Word to the wise - don't look up when the water is pouring down... :)

On Tuesday, we traveled with Mom and Uncle Dan to St. George where we met up with Aunt Myrna, Dallas, and Melissa to see Les Miserables at the Tuacan. What a great show! I highly recommend it - even if you have seen it before. I've lost count how many times I've seen it, but I love it more and more every time. Wednesday we traveled to Salt Lake and stayed at Aunt Myrna's house, played and relaxed some more. Friday afternoon we headed up to Kamas for a family reunion, then came back to Rhett's parent's house to stay the night. Rhett flew in to Salt Lake Saturday morning and we have been hanging out with the family.

This coming week is our trip to Flaming Gorge - we can't wait!
