What a beautiful day!

I live for days like today! The weather was beautiful - sunny, warm but not too warm and ever so pleasant. Porter had the day off school because of Parent/Teacher conferences and after finally getting ready for the day (I think it was noon when I finally got in the shower), we fixed lunch and ate it outside. Then we just played outside - we played freeze tag, red light, green light, Simon says, and hide and seek. It was a blast! Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the great day - I was too busy playing!

Growing Up

Andrew's new favorite thing is getting a drink of water from the dispenser on the fridge. He gets a cup and stands on his tippy toes and reaches as far as he can to get the cup up to the button that turns on the water. He gets some water in his cup, then drinks the water; afterwards feeling very proud of himself. It would all be great and wonderful except for the fact he's usually drenched after drinking his water (he's still perfecting drinking out of a big cup), the floor is usually wet and he gets a new cup everytime, therefore he gets out and has scattered about a half a dozen cups a day. It's sure cute to watch him, though.

His other new thing is to pout. And when he is pouting, his bottom lip sticks out. Lately, he also closes his eyes when he doesn't want people to see him or if he is shy. This morning, he was quite upset at Rhett because he had to sit in his big highchair for breakfast. When I came downstairs, he was pouting and when I would look at him, he would closed his eyes. Every few seconds he would open his eyes to see if I was still looking and if I was, he would close them again. Rhett and I just laugh everytime he does it; although we both think he's way too young to have this kind of attitude yet!

Clifford the Big Red Dog

Last week my neighbor and I did the book fair at the elementary school. We had a family night on Wednesday and our big promotion item was that Clifford the Big Red Dog was going to be there! Now mind you, that just means that Scholastic sends us the Clifford costume and we find someone to dress up in it. Wednesday night came and my neighbors friends, who were supposed to come be Clifford, hadn't shown up yet. We had lots of kids there with their parents waiting to take a picture with Clifford, so I finally got convinced to put on the costume to appease everyone. The funny part was my kids didn't know it was me in the suit, so they were a little hesitant to come stand by me. Zach wouldn't come near me at all. It was pretty fun, except for the fact I was dripping sweat after 10 minutes in the thing. I spent about 30 minutes as Clifford before I had to get out and let someone else have a try.

Snow!!

We got some more snow on Monday. It started coming down early in the evening and the boys were dying to go out and play in it. I was eager to start fixing dinner, but who could resist fresh snow?? So we got bundled up and went outside where we made and threw showballs, made snow angels, and stomped around. The boys had a blast and they didn't want to come in. I finally had to carry Andrew in the house kicking and screaming!

P.S. Note Zach's mis-matched shoes - he still has his cast on, so the only way he could go out was if he wore my boot on his broken foot!

Tuckered Out

Porter's school is having a book fair next week and my neighbor and I are running the whole thing. We spent all day yesterday at the school setting up the books and getting everything ready. Zach and Andrew had to be there with me and as a result, Andrew never got a decent nap (20 minutes in the uncomfortable stroller just doesn't cut it). When we finally got home at 4:30, Andrew was pretty active so I didn't feel the need to put him down for a nap. I went upstairs to do some things while Porter and Zach played the PS2. I had to go downstairs for something and found Andrew on the floor fast asleep. I did pick him up and put him in his bed...

Andrew's sure turned into a character. His favorite thing to do lately is scare people. He will hide somewhere, then come out with him arms extended and growling. Then he'll hide again and do it all over. He also says "Cheese!" when he sees the camera. He has to see the picture after you've taken it, as well. He loves to read books - sometimes we read the same ones over and over. Some of his favorites are Pajama Time!, Moo, Baa, La, La, La, and Doggies by Sandra Boynton and some Lift-the-flap Maisy books we have. He's getting to be quite the talker. The other day he was doing a puzzle and after he would put a piece in, he would clap and cheer. After one particular piece, he said, "I did it!" Other words he says are "out", "all done", "doggie!", "shoes", and "daddy!" (which Rhett particulary likes to hear when he gets home from work). He is truly a joy to have around the house. We sure have fun!

Friday

I was looking through the latest batch of pictures and thought these were too adorable not to share:

I was trying to take a picture of my Sizzix to sell on Craigslist and Zach stuck his face into the picture. Maybe I'll see how much I can get for him....

Andrew's new specs...I found these for a dollar at JoAnne's and couldn't resist!

I don't have a new picture of Porter. My goal is to start taking more pictures of just him - I find that I have to search to find one of him alone. He is doing awesome in school. He's reading at a first grade level, and as a result, is going to be joining the first grade during their reading time. His teacher is impressed at how much he knows and how great his comprehension is. We're very proud of him.

My new favorite TV Channel is the BYU channel. I was going through the guide on it in hopes of finding if and when they were going to show President Hinkley's funeral and saw that they have all sorts of great shows - an aerobic workout show (which has pushed me through my exercise boredom), a Book of Mormon discussion show, and many others on Living Essentials, Families, and much more. I put much of them on my DVR Season Pass list, then realized that I don't have that much time to sit and watch TV! I was watching one of the shows the other day and Zach noticed the BYU logo in the corner of the screen. "Is that BYU?" he asked. "Yep," I said. "BYU stinks!" he quickly added. Good to know he's learning something around here...
