New Ambition

My exercise program
has gone to the wayside
too many commitments in the morning
Exercise at night?
too many commitments to plan at night
exercise during the day?
Like I don't have enough things to do
get up earlier?
but that 30 extra minutes of sleep is
oh, so nice

And, I've realized
I'm an emotional eater
Tired?
eat
Bored?
eat
Stressed?
eat
and chocolate is my vice
combine that with no exercise
it's starting to show
flabby arms
soggy thighs
saddle bags
excess tummy

So
I'm trying to eat healthier
snack healthier
less sugar
less crap
more fruits and veggies
more water
add the exercise back in sometime

But some days
those days
are so hard
when the last candy bar in the cookie jar
is calling my name.

Amen. Great poetry. Gosh-- now you can add that to your resume. I'm pretty sure that you're not getting saddle bags... you're too skinny for that. Thanks for motivating me too!

Oh, I totally understand. I've been trying so hard to get back into a tiny bit of evercise after a long go of nothing, and lots of emotional eating. I have the exact habits as you and the longer it goes, the harder it gets. Not just because of the physical effects but because you know you're not as healthy and happy as you have been in the past. It's so hard! Maybe you should do some hand weights for about 15 minutes a day, while your mind processes something you've just read or planned to make you feel a little better about yourself. Easy to say, but I haven't done that in forever. I usually get as much into 15 min. as I can going form legs to arms so I don't have to take a break every time. I'm sorry you feel so lousy--I do too! I need to get up and run again. BUT, you look amazing to me still.

Oh boy Steph, do I know what you're talking about. I think everyone has that problem. Eating healthier is the goal. But just so you know - you have the firmest soggy thighs, the tightest flabby arms, and the smallest saddles bags out of anyone I know so you must be doing something right.

ps... I love how you wrote this entry. It was so fun to read.

Just a word from someone who let it go too long - - keep it under control now - because it is a lot harder 30 years later!! All you young girls are an inspiration to me - all you get done! I have 19 pounds left to get 100 punds lost in fits and starts over the last 5 years!! I love exercise now and have even bought me a bike and ride around my world. The food thing is still hard. all those fruits and vegies sometimes just don't do it for me!! so lets all make a pact to stay strong and stay healthy!! your old aunt karen :}

I'm totally with you on this one Steph, I'm glad you wrote that, it actually gave me the motivation I was looking for to start working out again!

From the looks of everyones comments I guesss we are all in the same boat!! I definitely am. My excuse i guess is that I am going to wait until I am sleeping through the night before I can excercise. Since Ellee is only 5 months old I might have a while???
I love snacking. Lets just make being chubby a fashion...just kidding, kind of??

I'm right there with you babe, it's true, but stinks none the less! I wish I could just snap my fingers and have the end result I've always wanted, but never seem to reach! Oh well, I'm human and it's life. It's just important to love yourself, and remember that you're beautiful! Just don't love yourself with food and you'll be okay :P Thanks for the inspiration though, it helps to know that others are going through the same things I am!
